Aboriginal Speech Language Program - ASLP

  • Is a culturally-based support of children's speech and language development
  • Strength based approach focused on relationship building
  • Flexibility to meet the needs of families and the community
  • Services for children from birth to 6 years of age
  • Services provided in the community, at home, or at the VNFC depending on what works best for families.

This program works in collaboration with the other programs in the Aboriginal Childhood Intervention Services Team as well as other comnmunity service providers.

Through collaboration with caregivers, our Aboriginal Speech and Language Pathologist will help children to:

  • Communicate with others
  • Understand what others say
  • Develop play skills with peers and adults
  • Say words clearly and be understood by others
  • Express feeelings, ideas, needs, and wants.
  • Learn school-readiness and pre-literacy skill development

The Aboriginal Speech Language Program is a free voluntary and family centered support service.
