Career, Employment & Education Resources
The Career, Employment and Education Resources (CEER) division provides a communications area for clients to contact potential employers.
Employment programs include one full year of follow-up services that
provide clients with a message centre, resume updates, local faxing
service, community job search, and consultations with program
instructors.
There is also an Urban Training Program that offers clients funding for training costs or wage subsidies.
Other services include a number of short-term education and training
programs such as basic computer instruction, first aid, and a variety
of employment related training opportunities.
Vocational Consultant
The role of this position is to work with clients to provide
employment and labor market assessments, counselling and career
planning, information on skill training, advocacy and referrals to
other VNFC and community services.
These services are offered in a supportive atmosphere to help
clients achieve employment goals and to foster a sense of focus and
self-confidence in order to compete in the labor market successfully.

Pre-employment
Lifeskills through traditional education i.e. arts & crafts, Cowichan knitting, light conversations on the importance of working and learning for life and/or traditional lecture classes.The Vocational Consultant provides information regarding student loans, bursaries and scholarships, and necessary support for completion or success of the student’s chosen area of interest and study.
The program will focus on four main areas: Career Development, Personal Skills Development, Innovative Work Search Strategies, and Learning Skills.
Woven throughout the program will be a cultural component to reflect Aboriginal perspectives and experience.
Camosun College, Indigenous Programs – Aboriginal Basic Upgrading
The Victoria Native Friendship Centre (VNFC), is in partnership with Camosun College; Native Adult Basic Education (upgrading) is available from September—April.Job Club:
