“Message from the VNFC Board of Directors”

 Hello Everyone.

At the last Board of Directors’ meeting of the Victoria Native Friendship Centre, Bruce Parisian gave notice of his plans to retire on December 31 2017.   The Board, under the leadership of the Human Resources and Governance Committees, is now developing a recruitment strategy to fill the position of Executive Director.

Since he came to VNFC in 1999 Bruce has led the administration, programs and strategic planning of the VNFC.  With his leadership the centre has grown exponentially and, very importantly, now has a permanent home.  It continues to be a vital resource for urban Aboriginal individuals and families.  We have big shoes to fill and much gratitude to Bruce for his tireless work and vision.

The Board feels that the success Bruce has created through projects and programming and the stellar team he has assembled will make VNFC an enticing opportunity for the future Executive Director.

The Human Resources and Governance Committees are beginning the process to find a candidate with the many qualifications and skills needed for this position.  We expect the entire process to take some months and the Board will regularly update community members, partners, and employees of our progress.

For now we will raise our hands and express our heartfelt gratitude for the commitment Bruce has shown over the years.  The sacrifices he has made for the greater good of our community and the legacy that will remain in our home on Hampton Ave.  Our future is bright and we have Bruce to thank.

Huy'ch'qu Siem, Thank you to our honoured friend.

 Ron Rice, VNFC President

On behalf of the entire Board & Staff at VNFC
